About me

Lorem Ipsum

As a trained and experienced thoracic-cardiovascular surgeon, I have seen the devastating effects of metabolic diseases such as heart attack, heart failure, coronary disease, and end-stage renal disease on many of my patients. Despite knowing that these diseases are preventable, I often found myself feeling frustrated seeing patients at the end stages of their illness, where surgery is often the last resort and only provides temporary relief. One of the reasons is the lack of access to care at the right time. Many individuals face significant barriers when trying to access healthcare, due to cost, distance, heath literacy and limited availability of services. I also found that the lack of a trusting, lifelong relationship with a primary care physician can contribute to delayed diagnosis and treatment, leading to more severe health problems.

In addition, our industrialized lifestyle has made the problem even worse. The modern lifestyle often involves unhealthy diets, sedentary behavior, and high-stress levels, which can increase the risk of developing chronic diseases such as obesity and diabetes. To address these issues, I shifted my career focus toward internal medicine, primary care, and preventive medicine. I believe that prevention and early intervention are crucial in preventing the progression of metabolic diseases. By focusing on wellness and promoting healthy lifestyle changes, we can help patients achieve optimal health and prevent the onset of chronic diseases. I also found it rewarding to manage and conduct research on obesity, diabetes and metabolic syndrome. By understanding the underlying causes and risk factors of these diseases, we can better educate and empower our patients to take control of their health.

Overall, my experience as a thoracic-cardiovascular surgeon has given me a unique perspective on the devastating effects of metabolic diseases, and I am committed to working towards a healthier future for my patients and the community. By addressing barriers to access, building lifelong relationships with patients, and focusing on preventive medicine and wellness, we can make a significant impact on the health and well-being of our communities.

Healthy Weight

Obesity, characterized by chronic inflammation in adipose tissue, disrupts hormonal and immune system function as an endocrine organ. Being overweight or obese significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, musculoskeletal disorders, and certain cancers. If you're facing struggles with unhealthy weight, remember that you're not alone. In the United States, one-third of adults are affected by obesity, contributing to a significant portion of total mortality rates. Mounting evidence highlights how obesity disrupts the delicate balance of the energy homeostasis system, making weight loss challenging. Complex neurohormonal mechanisms involving interactions between hormones and neurons within the hypothalamus, a brain structure, play a critical role in regulating weight by influencing appetite and food intake, including the delicate balance of hormones like ghrelin and leptin. These interactions, in conjunction with signals from the gastrointestinal tract and adipocyte storage, ensure that the appropriate signals are conveyed to the hypothalamus. Imbalances in these interactions contribute to various pathophysiological conditions associated with weight imbalance and disrupted energy homeostasis. Furthermore, the influence of an industrial lifestyle and technology-driven changes, affecting physical activity availability, food manufacturing, and consumption, further complicate the management of weight. We are here to provide the support and guidance you need on your transformative journey toward improved health.
